Man Allegedly Gets Refund For Stolen Golf Clubs

A Watertown man is accused of trying to cash in on sporting equipment he allegedly stole from the Salmon Run Mall in Watertown.

Jefferson County sheriff's deputies say 38 year old Matthew Tousley allegedly received gift cards for more than $1,000 when he returned golf clubs to Dick's Sporting Goods.

Deputies say he allegedly stole the equipment in late April. He also allegedly damaged the clubs when he removed the anti-theft devices.

Deputies say the theft was discovered when the store's records showed excess inventory after he brought the equipment back.

Tousley was charged with fourth degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, and first-degree falsifying business records. All three charges are felonies.
