Local Lacrosse Stars Hit The Field In College Play

Posted: Updated:

Women's college lacrosse players who got their start in the north country were in action Sunday.

Former General Brown standout Bryanna Fazio and former South Jefferson star Sidney Hall were hoping to lead the LeMoyne Lady Dolphins into the next round of the women's NCAA Division 2 lacrosse tournament.

And former Carthage star Brailee Kempney was in action for Syracuse.

Fazio scored her 66th goal of the season in the first half -- her only goal of the game -- putting LeMoyne ahead 5-1 over Adelphi.

Hall scored in the second half, tying the score at 7-7.

But Adelphi scored the game winner with three seconds left in the second overtime, beating LeMoyne 12-11.

Fazio ends her career at LeMoyne as the team's all-time leading scorer.

Kempney is a draw specialist for Syracuse.

They met Georgetown in opening-round action of the women's NCAA Division 1 lacrosse tournament.

Syracuse beat Georgetown 14-8.

Former South Jefferson star Morgan Alexander didn't see any action in Sunday's game.

Next up, Syracuse meets Northwestern and former Watertown star Jill Girardi in the quarterfinals.
