Watertown Seeking Lifeguards For City PoolsPosted: Updated:
Watertown pools are empty now, but soon they'll be busy with swimmers.
The city is hiring 25 to 30 lifeguards for its pools at North Elementary and the Fairgrounds.
Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Erin Gardner says it's a great job for high school or college students.
"We're really hoping to get people that can work until Labor Day because we like to keep the pools open as long as possible. We're looking for people that are already certified that maybe have a little bit of experience but every year we end up taking a handful of people who have never lifeguarded before and we teach them and show them the ropes," she said.
The pools will open the first week of July. The city is also hiring 15 to 20 summer recreation counselors to run its playground programs.
You can get an application at the municipal arena, at city hall in the civil service office or you can get go to the employment section on the city's website and print off the temporary job application.
