Person Flown To Syracuse Hospital After Town Of Brownville Explosion

Posted: Updated:

An explosion at a town of Brownville home started a fire and sent one person to a Syracuse hospital.

Emergency crews were called to 20800 Carr Road Tuesday evening.

The garage that caught fire is a total loss. Crews with the town of Brownville Fire District were able to save the home next to it.

The unidentified victim was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital to be treated for burns.

Fire Chief Ryan McIntosh credits a 911 call from the victim's child for getting crews on the scene fast.

"They did a very good job relaying information to us and painted us a good picture of what we were coming into," he said. "Crews were able to quickly get here and knock the bulk of the fire down and keep it from spreading to the house."

The cause of the explosion was undetermined Tuesday night.
