FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCSC/Gray News) - A man was injured after drones fell from the sky during a New Year’s Eve drone show.

Three minutes into a drone show in Folly Beach, South Carolina, drones began falling, according to the City of Folly Beach Department of Public Safety.

The drones fell for about 30 seconds before the remaining drones started “a controlled descent” to the designated landing zone, according to Folly Beach Police Sgt. Zach Halpern.

“At this time, we are not speculating on how or why this incident occurred,” police said in a release. “The FAA has been notified and will be heading the investigation.”

The injured man was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
