BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB/Gray News) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused of raping a young child in Louisiana.

Arrest documents for 25-year-old Anthony James Jelks accuse him of raping a 4-year-old girl on Aug. 1 at a home off Greenwell Springs Road in Baton Rouge.

Authorities said Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital contacted detectives when the child was brought in complaining of redness and irritation.

According to arrest documents, a sexual assault nurse examiner tested the child for sexually transmitted diseases, and the child tested positive for chlamydia.

The girl was brought to the Children’s Advocacy Center, where investigators noted she told them Jelks “pulled her pants down” and “did things to her.”

An arrest document for Jelks said that he was also investigated in November of 2022 for indecent behavior with a 9-year-old.

Authorities urged anyone to contact Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867 if they have any further information about Jelks or know his location.
