ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, New York (WWNY) - Inmates in two state prisons in St. Lawrence County face charges for allegedly carrying weapons.

State police arrested 28-year-old Tyrickie Walker earlier this week. He’s serving time at Riverview Correctional Facility in Ogdensburg.

Troopers said correction officers searched Walker in November 2024, and a sharp object fell off him. Officials later determined that Walker had a cutting-type weapon.

In a separate incident, state police arrested 37-year-old Damien Benson this week at Gouverneur Correctional Facility.

Like Walker, he was accused of carrying a cutting-type weapon in November 2024.

Troopers said he triggered a metal detector while walking through it.

Both inmates were arraigned on weapon possession charges in county court.

They were returned to their respective prisons.
